Cialfo offers a diverse range of data for students searching for colleges and universities. To increase the quality of our database, we have now also partnered with QS World University Ranking. To begin researching different colleges and universities, go to the "Universities" tab present on the left navigation menu.
Once you click on the "Universities" tab you will be able to see different university that is categorised by different region. You can also search for the preferred university in the search bar and even use the filter function to do the searching. These filters includes details like Direct Apply, Regions, Scholarship, Admission Requirement and so on. You can apply even more filters as per your requirement by clicking on "+More Filters" button, a sidebar will appear for you to choose more filters like Ranking, university type, duration, university tags, etc.
Pro tip: Click on the Direct Apply button to easily browse the full list of universities that accept Direct Apply admissions. To know more about Direct Apply, click here!
Helpful Tips when searching for colleges and universities
There is a variety of Search (Filter) for schools. The most common ones are:
Avg SAT
Avg ACT
Courses & Majors
IB Requirement (UK)
Avg Financial Aid
(1) & (2), the Avg SAT and Avg ACT filter (only works for US schools) allows you to search for schools that accepted students with average SAT/ACT scores within your indicated search parameter.
(3) the Courses & Majors filter allows you to search for colleges that feature the Courses & Majors of your interest.
(4) the IB Requirement (UK) filter (only works for UK schools) allows you to search for schools that have IB Requirements within your indicated search parameter.
Setting Columns
You can customize the list of columns displayed in the Universities tab to your preference - you may select or deselect any of the columns based on your preference and drag them according to how you'd like to see the information.
University Profile
Once you clicked into the university's name, it will bring you to the university profile page, where you can get more information about that school, such as admission requirement, courses available, cost, essay prompts, demographics, environment and much more.
Besides reading up on the university's information, students can have the option to add the university to their preferred list: Applying, Shortlist, Longlist just by clicking on "Add to list" drop down button located at the side of the page, as well as the option to stay updated on upcoming events, deadline changes, essay prompts by clicking on "Connect now" button.
Essay Prompts on University Profiles
University profiles on Cialfo include an Prompts section, which displays the current admissions essay prompts required by each university. This is a helpful resource for students preparing their application materials.
How to Access Essay Prompts
Essay prompts are available on individual university profile pages. To view them:
Navigate to Universities from the left-hand menu.
Search for and open a university profile.
Scroll to the Prompts under Admissions section of the profile.
Click to expand and view the prompts for each application round or programme.
Note: Essay prompt data is sourced from university admissions pages and is updated periodically. If a prompt appears outdated or is missing, contact Chat with Cialfo and provide the university name so the data team can investigate.

If a student or counselor clicked on the Universities tab, a placeholder screen with a temporary widget briefly appeared before the university listing loaded. This creates a noticeable delay and a disrupted user experience, especially during the first load, as the placeholder did not provide any useful content while the actual listings were being fetched.
The placeholder screen has been completely removed from the page flow, and users are now taken directly to the University search and listing page immediately upon clicking the Universities tab, without any intermediate loading screen.
If you still encounter a placeholder screen or any loading irregularities, try refreshing the page.
Duplicate State Removed from Australian University Filters
Duplicate State Removed from Australian University Filters
A data issue was identified where the state “Victoria” appeared twice in the region/state filter while searching for Australian universities.
This caused confusion for students filtering universities by Australian state, as both entries returned the same set of results.
This issue has now been resolved. The duplicate “Victoria” entry has been removed, and each Australian state now appears only once in the filter list.
If duplicate state entries are still visible:
Clear your browser cache and refresh the page.
If the issue continues, contact Chat with Cialfo and share a screenshot of the filter dropdown showing the duplicate entries.
