You can find below the pre-submission checklist for Common App that BridgeU has put together to ensure your application process is seamless!
Have you linked your BridgeU and Common App account? Ensure you have linked the correct Common App account to BridgeU, and that the information is consistent across both platforms (in particular the Common App ID). To pair your BridgeU and Common App accounts, you can find more details about the setup here. Once your accounts are paired, your school name, postal address and CEEB code will be auto-filled for you in the Education section on Common App.
Have you answered the FERPA status on Common App? Check your Common App to see that you have completed the FERPA. Once you have added your Universities to your Common App, the list of institutions will automatically sync to Your list in BridgeU.
Requesting Teacher Recommendations must be done through BridgeU Once your BridgeU account is set up for the Common App integration, you should be prompted to invite teacher recommenders through BridgeU. Check with your Counsellor if you should be requesting these using BridgeU Teacher Recommendation invites or if your counsellor will be processing teacher recommendations on your behalf.
IMPORTANT: Please do not invite Teachers or Counsellor Recommenders through the Common App. If you have invited your Teachers or Counsellors on Common App prior to pairing, you will need to remove them from your Common App otherwise it will prevent them from submitting their recommendations via BridgeU. To resolve this, you can manually remove recommendation requests put through your Common App accounts. To do so, go to Manage Recommenders and click the trash can icon on your Recommender & FERPA page on the Common App Key Reasoning: Splitting tasks between platforms leads to discrepancies and errors. For instance, documents sent directly via Common App won’t sync with BridgeU, disrupting record-keeping and workflows.:
If the trash bin icons are not available to you, try hovering over the similar position shown in the screenshot to see if the cursor turns to a clickable cursor. If a teacher’s recommendation has already been directly submitted through Common App, it won’t appear in BridgeU. To address this, future recommendation requests should always be made via BridgeU.
If not, please contact [email protected] and provide your name/email address/Common App ID (CAID). We will then contact Common App on behalf of you in order to resolve this.
