What is a Bragsheet (Brag Sheet)?

A brag sheet is a personal summary document that highlights a student's:

  • Achievements

  • Activities

  • Strengths

  • Goals

  • Unique experiences

It is usually shared with teachers, counselors, or recommenders to help them write strong, personalised recommendation letters. It can also be used by students when filling out college applications, scholarships, or preparing for interviews.

Why is a Bragsheet Useful?

A Bragsheet is useful because:

  • It makes recommendation letters stronger by giving your counselors and teachers concrete details and stories to include.

  • It helps you reflect on your growth, achievements, and interests before applying to colleges.

  • It saves time when filling applications or preparing for college interviews.

  • It ensures your unique qualities are noticed, not just your grades or test scores.

Key Questions for Bragsheet Preparation

Here are sample bragsheet questions that counselors can use to help students reflect on their academic, extracurricular, and personal experiences. These can be included in a survey or form to gather comprehensive information for recommendation letters and college applications.

Basic Information

  • Name

  • Grade

  • Contact information

  • Intended college major

Academic Achievements

  • What are your strongest academic subjects and why?

  • Any awards, honors, or recognitions received? (e.g., Subject awards, Olympiads)

Extracurricular Activities

  • List your main clubs/ organisations with roles and contributions.

  • What leadership positions have you held?

Volunteer Work and Community Service

  • Where have you volunteered?

  • What impact did you make or what did you learn from these experiences?

Personal Interests and Hobbies

  • What activities do you enjoy outside of school?

  • Are there unique skills you have developed (coding, art, music, etc.)?

Future Goals

  • What do you hope to study in college, and why?

  • What are your career aspirations?

Reflection Questions

  • What achievement are you most proud of, and why?

  • Describe a challenge you overcame and what you learned from it.

  • How would your friends or teachers describe you?

Sample Questions Students Should Answer in a Bragsheet:

  1. What three words best describe you?

  2. What are your top three accomplishments in high school?

  3. Which activity has been most meaningful to you, and why?

  4. Describe a time you demonstrated leadership or resilience.

  5. What challenges have you faced, and how have you overcome them?

  6. What are your academic and career goals?

  7. How have you contributed to your school or community?

  8. What personal qualities or experiences set you apart from others?

How to Create and Assign BragSheet to Students

Counselors can use the "Surveys" feature to create and assign brag sheets to students. Here’s how:

  1. Navigate to the Surveys Section
Go to the “More” option on the left-hand side menu, then click on “Surveys.”

  2. Create a New Survey
On the Surveys page, select “Create Survey.”
    A pop-up window will appear.

  3. Add Title and Description

    • Enter a title for the form (e.g., “Brag Sheet – Tell Us About Yourself”).

    • Write a brief description explaining the purpose of the brag sheet. Be clear about what specific achievements, experiences, or qualities students should highlight.

  4. Add Questions
Scroll down and click on “+ Add Question” to begin adding your questions.
Use this to collect meaningful responses such as:

    • Academic strengths

    • Extracurricular involvement

    • Personal accomplishments

    • Future goals or aspirations

Assigning and Publishing the Brag Sheet

Once the brag sheet is ready, click on the “Recipients” tab. Here, you can select recipients using filters such as graduation year, gender, group, and more. You also have the option to add students manually if needed.

After setting your criteria, click on “Apply Filters.”

Now you’re ready to publish the brag sheet. Click on the “Publish” button, set a due date for submission, and then click “Publish” again to make it live for students.

That’s it! Once published, students will receive the brag sheet and can start filling it out. This is a great way to collect meaningful insights about their achievements, interests, and experiences, which can be helpful for recommendation letters and future planning.
