Common App's One and Done Policy

Written by MOHIT MMANGAL

Review the following information to better understand the Common App's One and Done policy and how this streamlined process helps counsellors and recommenders manage submissions more efficiently.

The Common App One and Done Policy allows counsellors to complete and submit certain documents once on behalf of the applicant. Once submitted, these documents become available to all Colleges/ Universities that a student has applied to, as well as any institutions they apply to later. This makes the submission process more standardised and efficient to manage.

Tip: Avoid tailoring the forms listed below to specific Colleges/ Universities, as they should remain suitable for all institutions the student may apply to.

The documents from the One and Done Policy are as follows:

  • Fee Waivers

  • School Report (including the School Profile and Transcripts that are attached)

  • Counsellor Recommendation

  • Midyear Report

  • Optional Report 1

  • Optional Report 2

Note: These documents can only be sent once, and you will not be able to change them after they are sent. The submitted version of each form will be made available to Colleges and Universities that the student applies.

School Final Reports are typically submitted to colleges and universities when a student has been accepted, or when a student has been accepted and intends to enrol.

Important! Once the School Final Report is submitted, ALL Common App forms are subsequently locked and you will not be able to access or send any other forms for the student's application.

โ€‹Teacher Recommendations require some additional action by the Counsellor to assign relevant Colleges/Universities prior to submission. Take a look at How to send out teacher recommendations (Common App specific guide) for more information.
